It all started in 9th grade at Smithtown HS West when Mrs. Kay Newill taught me chocolate making in her cooking class. She even came in on weekends to teach me more. That Christmas, I made chocolate gifts, and by 10th grade, my business teacher Mrs. Sue Gubing gave me a $100 loan to buy a refrigerator for my chocolate business. My parents, James and Rose Lewis, supported me by buying molds and selling my creations at work.
By 11th grade, I had middle school employees working weekends in my parents’ basement, producing chocolate houses and more for holidays like Christmas, Valentine's Day, and Easter, selling them at Tri-County Flea Market. My family—Greg, Kenny, and Sheri—helped, and my dad and I even created a chocolate village for display at John Peel Restaurant, a memory I'll always cherish.
After high school, I began a tradition of delivering chocolate houses to kids, including those who were sick or special needs, driving all night on Christmas Eve. Over the years, this tradition grew, and my family joined in, making and donating chocolate creations to various organizations.
Now, we create a chocolate village for the Smithtown Fire Department's Christmas Parade. As my kids grow, I hope they’ll continue spreading joy through chocolate. After all, "Everyone Loves Chocolate."
